Direct Line offer a flexible approach to insuring your pet dog or cat, starting with a choice of two basic provisions and adding different levels of insurance cover to meet your needs.
The most basic policy, called the 'Essential' policy, covers vet's fees for up to £4000 towards the cost of treatment for disease, illness, or injury for a maximum of 12 months per condition. The 'Advanced' policy ups this to £6000 per condition, and removes the time limit altogether.
Both of the above policies come with a free telephone helpline service which will help you find a local vet, give you legal advice, or even give you free pet bereavement counselling if the worst comes to the worst.
Additional benefits you can choose include financial help in finding your pet if it strays or is stolen, covers the purchase price of your pet if it dies from an accident, pet boarding costs should you require hospital treatment, and also holiday cancellation cover if illness or injury to your pet prevents you from taking your holiday.
Additionally, dog owners can choose 3rd party liability cover for the unlikely event that your pet injures someone or damages their property. Travellers may benefit from the optional overseas travel cover which covers any quarantine costs, emergency expenses, or loss of pet passport.
